Distracting Others
For some reason, students love to bother one another. Distracting others can be done in many ways, but here are a few ideas that will hopefully help multiple situations:
-Discuss the connection of distracting others and respecting others. Tell students that we must respect one another and in order to do that we should try not to distract them or keep them from learning.
-Another discussion on personal space will be beneficial as well. See Personal Space page.
-Give students fidget toys to keep them busy. If they have a fidget toy in their hand, they may be less likely to bother those around them. With the fidget toys, remind students that the only way they may use them is if their hand remains on the toy at all times. It may not be thrown or bounced.
-Move students to new locations in the room depending on the reason they are distracting others.
